She completed a rigorous three year traditional apprenticeship as a Kirchenmaler (literally translated ‘church painter’) that included training in a conservation and decorative painting studio and studying the history, materials and traditional techniques of the decorative and applied arts at the Städtische Berufsschule für Farbe und Gestaltung (School for Paint and Design) in Munich, Germany. Britta has an encyclopedic knowledge and working experience of the vast array of materials and techniques of conservation and the decorative and applied arts including: Fine art conservation (paintings, frames, sculpture…cleaning, repair, in-painting and varnish), gilding (water gilding, oil gilding, wax gilding, verre eglomise “glass gilding”…), paint (whitewash, casein, tempera, distemper, oil, watercolor, acrylic…), traditional lime-based materials (plaster, stucco…).</image:caption>

Rachael worked more than 10 years on the restoration of the interior of the PA State Capitol building. Most recently, Racheal was one of the lead restorers, decorative painters, and conservators on our restoration/conservation of the PA Governor’s Offices in the State Capitol Building, as well as the ornate decorative spaces with the PA Forum Building.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Robert Rodgers, Horologist, Clock Repairer Bob Rogers has been repairing clocks for more that 50 years. He learned the clock repair trade from his father, who was trained at Bowman Technical School of Watch and Clock Repair in Lancaster, PA. Bob apprenticed with his father for nearly 10 years before taking over the family business, Rogers Clock Service, in 1980. Bob repairs and maintains tower clocks in county courthouses in Pennsylvania as well as many tower clocks up and down the east coast. In addition, his shop in Linglestown, PA has been continuously repairing wall and mantle clocks as well as grandfather and tall case clocks for more that 50 years. Bob has conducted scheduled in-studio cleaning, on-site oiling, service calls, and general maintenance of the PA Capitol Clocks since August 2018 for J&amp;G’s work on the “Clock Preservation Maintenance” Project.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Bethany Endicott Gill, Conservation Technician, Decorative Painter, Horologist Bethany’s primary role at J&amp;G is maintaining the more than 200 historic clocks throughout the PA Capitol Complex. For the past two years, she has been apprenticing with master horologist, Robert Rodgers, learning how to diagnose and repair problems with the historic timepieces. She also hand-winds the clocks weekly within legislator’ s private offices, as well as attending to regular scheduled cleaning and oiling of the mechanisms. Bethany is also an integral and multi-talented part of the J&amp;G conservation and restoration teams that restored the ornate spaces of the PA Governor’s Office, PA State Library ceiling, and PA Forum Building.</image:caption>
